Screw compressors consists of two helical rotors which are used in compressing external air to a set pressure, ensuring dry, clean, and compressed air. The find increasing application in segments such as chemicals and petrochemicals processing, food & beverages, metals & mining, automotive, power plants, and oil & gas where large volume of high pressure air is needed especially to drive machine tools.
All reciprocating air compressors throw out some oil with the air they compress. When the tank reaches its designed pressure limit, a switch will interrupt electrical power to the motor. Simultaneously, a certain amount of oily air will be released into the shop environment. You may see oil collecting on the wall behind the compressor and on the pump and compressor as well over time. This is not cause for alarm but periodic cleaning may be needed.
I recommend that you buy a compressor with an air tank. It produces constant air flow, unlike the diaphragm model, which creates pulsation. You have to choose as large as possible reservoir tank. It provides constant, smooth air flow.
