I hope this information has been useful to you. Buying an air compressor for your woodworking shop can be a fairly expensive investment when you consider piping, regulators, hoses, water traps, wiring and electricians. You will want to buy a compressor that is capable of the tasks you will be using it for but no more than that. Purchasing the wrong air compressor can be a very expensive mistake. My motivation in writing this has been to give you the knowledge you will need to select the right one.
A few years ago I got a letter from my cousin back in Florida. He is a portable air compressor too. He works with a roofing company contractor. I could never do that sort of work because I am too big. Luckily, my cousin is just the right size and can be used up on the roof. I guess the workers just take him right on up and secure him to their roofing jacks. This seems dangerous to me, but different strokes for different folks.
Oil free systems are a bit more technical so sometimes are more expensive. Often they are louder than an oil lubed compressor, but the air delivered through one of these pumps is of a better quality. They are found for home use, and are great because they are low maintenance and start up quick in cold weather.
